Macclesfield Town seal deals for four new signings

Macclesfield Town delved into the transfer window yesterday to bring in four new signings.

Goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook, Corey O’Keefe, Connor Kirby and Virgil Gomis have all joined the Silkmen, as per a report by BBC Sport.

Sol Campbell’s side moved to bring in stopper Charles-Cook to bolster their goalkeeping options. The 25-year-old, who has played for Coventry City and Swindon Town in the past, has signed a one-year deal at the Moss Rose.

Charles-Cook will compete with Wigan Athletic loanee Owen Evans for the number one spot this season.

Birmingham City midfielder O’Keefe has joined the Cheshire side on a season-long loan. The former Republic of Ireland Under-19 international spent time on loan in the National League with Solihull Moors in the last campaign and helped them finish 2nd.

Kirby has also joined Macc on loan from another Championship side in Sheffield Wednesday. He has played four times for the Owls’ first team so far in his career having risen up through the youth ranks at Hillsborough.

The Silkmen have also brought in Nottingham Forest’s Gomis on loan to give them more options and depth in attack. The 20-year-old has spent time on loan with the likes of Braintree and Notts County previously.

Campbell’s men face Leyton Orient at home today and will be keen to bounce back from their 1-0 away defeat to Exeter City on the opening day of the season last weekend.
